StoneGable is configured like an old Lancaster farmhouse. A big rectangle, of sorts. Half of it, the “front of the house”, consists of a foyer flanked by a living room and dining room. The “back of the house” is a long kitchen, eating area, powder room and a family room. Off of the kitchen is a mudroom and on the front side of the house is the study, and on the back is a laundry room and another bathroom. Today I’m showing you a new chair for the foyer and some never seen images of the “front of the house”.
I’ve tried so many configurations in my foyer in the last couple of years. It’s long and opens up to the living room and dining room… and to the stair and upstairs.
I’m standing at the edge of the living room looking into the foyer and dining room…
And here is the foyer and the living room. I’m standing next to the bar cart just inside the dining room.
I have some fun changes in store for this area. Nothing too drastic… a couple of new things and a few upcycled pieces.
I’m standing by the sidelight at the front door. You can see my shadow on the floor! The front of StoneGable is always light and bright even on cloudy days! Can you see the white doggie gate? Little Scamp is relegated to the back of the house. Sometimes he can be a wee bit naughty! Beyond the gate is my kitchen.
Some of you might ask, “Why put an upholstered chair in the foyer?”. The short answer is… because I like it there.
The long answer is… my foyer is pretty big and very wide. I’ve tried a few different accent chairs there, but I think they get lost. When we have company I can move this chair close to the living room expanding the seating space. And when I have lots of people all over the house for an event this chair comes in handy just where it is!
This traditional looking chair (with great silver nail heads and a tufted back!!!!) came from Joss & Main and it was a VERY good buy!!!
