I recently bought new bedding for a guest room at StoneGable and was determined to do it on a very tight budget! However, I didn’t want to give up the upscale designer look I love! Yes, you can have gorgeous bedding without breaking your budget! It’s not as hard as you think. Wouldn’t you love to have the most beautiful bedding in all your bedrooms? I know! I would too! Here are 8 budget-friendly designer tips and tricks for gorgeous bedding!

8 BUDGET FRIENDLY TIPS AND TRICKS FOR CREATING DESIGNER LOOK BEDDING

Have you noticed how expensive bedding can be? Oh my goodness! The majority of designer bedding is out of my price range if it’s not on a deeply discounted sale!

I am in the process of changing up some of the bedding in my guest rooms for spring and summer and wanted the bedding I chose to have that great designer look. I just did not want the big designer price tag!  Here are a few things I kept in mind when buying bedding!

BUY THE BEST QUALITY YOU CAN

8 BUDGET FRIENDLY TIPS AND TRICKS FOR CREATING DESIGNER LOOK BEDDING

Buying fabulous quality is always a good choice. I say… “buy the best quality you can”. Now, let me expand on that thought. Always, I repeat always look, wait, and shop the sales. I hardly ever buy anything for full price. I do my research on things like cloud-like soft linens, wonderful goose down duvets, and designer fabrics and then I wait for the sales or shop on sites that I know great quality merchandise is discounted! For me, it’s sorta the thrill of the hunt.

Buying great quality bedding is also less expensive in the long run. Egyptian cotton sheets with a high thread count will wash and dry wonderfully and feel divine. AND they will also last for years!

The longer you want to use something the more money you should be willing to spend.  If you only want to get a season or two out of bedding, then don’t spend a lot. However, if you want to keep the bedding for several years then a little investment is well worth it! BUT SHOP THE SALES!!!!!

CREATE AN EXPENSIVE LOOK

8 BUDGET FRIENDLY TIPS AND TRICKS FOR CREATING DESIGNER LOOK BEDDING

Don’t let a tight budget cramp your design style!!! You CAN get the look for less… a whole lot less! I spend a good deal of time looking at gorgeous homes and room and things. It’s part of my job. Lucky me! And because I’ve got my eye on lots of upscale designer homewares, I have studied how the designers I admire put together looks I love.

You too can find bloggers and designers who’s style resonated with yours. Or visit stores whose products you wish you could fill your home. Take pictures!  Study how they decorate. Pull a room or a vignette or a bed you admire apart, visually speaking, and develop a sense for how things were chosen to create a “look”.

Remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder so it’s important to know what YOU like and call beautiful.

Don’t settle for less than an expensive beautiful look! Beautiful bedding can make a room!

CHOOSE A THIN SOLID COLOR QUILT AS A BEDSPREAD

8 BUDGET FRIENDLY TIPS AND TRICKS FOR CREATING DESIGNER LOOK BEDDING

This is such a PRACTICAL tip! Choose a solid and neutral colored quilt for your bed and use it as a bedspread. I use thin white quilts on all my beds as a “base”. They are crisp looking, easy to wash and give my bed a designer look. I don’t change them out when I bring new bedding to a room. They stay because they always look nice and go with everything I choose!

Here are great things about these quilts. They are not very expensive!!!! I found all of mine at my local HomeGoods. They are all amazing, quality name brands too!

Choosing a white quilt for a bed is a real budget-friendly idea!

USE DUVET COVERS

8 BUDGET FRIENDLY TIPS AND TRICKS FOR CREATING DESIGNER LOOK BEDDING

A beautiful designer bed usually has a fluffy duvet at the bottom of it! Duvets are really economical and practical as well as visually pleasing! Once an investment for a duvet insert is made it will last for up to 10 years if properly cared for!

Only the covers need to be replaced! And duvet covers go on sale all the time! Keep your eye out for duvet covers you love!!!!! I found my duvet cover for over 70 % off the original price! It’s a beautiful silky soft cotton with a modern pattern I love! A perfect weight and pattern for spring and summer!

Great quality and an awesome price…just what I look for!

SHAMS PULL BEDDING TOGETHER

8 BUDGET FRIENDLY TIPS AND TRICKS FOR CREATING DESIGNER LOOK BEDDING

Make sure to purchase standard or Euro shams that work with your bedding. I like to match the duvet cover and the shams. Truth be told, I prefer Euros better than standard shams but they are not always available with every duvet.

Usually when a duvet cover is on sale so are the shams. Buy the shams when you buy the duvet cover. Don’t wait on the shams and think you will go back at a later date to get them. You might be sorry!  Buy with an eye towards a designer look!

DON’T FORGET ACCENT PILLOWS

8 BUDGET FRIENDLY TIPS AND TRICKS FOR CREATING DESIGNER LOOK BEDDING

Accent pillows are like jewelry for your bed! They add color and texture and fluff! And they can be very very inexpensive! In the case of accent pillows, I would choose style and color over quality! I like a nice pillow but it doesn’t have to be extravagant! Accent pillows go a long way towards giving your bedding an expensive designer look!

A great budget- friendly idea is to buy pillow forms and inserts. Use the inserts over and over again changing out the covers. This is what I have done with my new bedding! I found the two square pillow covers on sale and brought up the bunny pillow from the living room. After Easter, I’ll change out the bunny pillow with another cover the same size.

ADD A THROW

8 BUDGET FRIENDLY TIPS AND TRICKS FOR CREATING DESIGNER LOOK BEDDING

A throw adds an additional layer of design and interest for very little money!!! Try to find one with lots of texture in a color that compliments the rest of your bedding.

I found this nubby gray throw at Ikea on sale for under $7.00!

USE A TRAY

8 BUDGET FRIENDLY TIPS AND TRICKS FOR CREATING DESIGNER LOOK BEDDING

Add some kind of a tray to a bed for the ultimate in a designer look! It doesn’t need to be a bed tray! Any tray will do.  You probably have one somewhere in your home already! Stack it with books, add a little vase of flowers or maybe a tiny picture and you have instant panache!

Such an easy and inexpensive way to get a very expensive layered look!

8 BUDGET FRIENDLY TIPS AND TRICKS FOR CREATING DESIGNER LOOK BEDDING

Now YOU can do it! Use these 8 designer tips and tricks and work on giving all the beds in your home that expensive designer look… even if you are on a tight budget like me!!!!

YES, you can!!!!

  1. Now if only you were closer! I have so many Euro shams, I prefer the standard rectangular ones we use in the UK, but France and the rest of Europe like the square ones, so every time I buy a new duvet set here in France I get more square pillowcases. I have a huge excess of them!

  2. PLEASE CAN YOU TELL ME HOW TO KEEP WHITE BEDDINGTHAT YOU SLEEP ON , LOOKING FRESH. I ALWAYS BUY A FULL THROW, BECAUSE, AFTER ONE NIGHT , THE BEDDING LOOKS CREAST, I LOVE LOADS OF SHAMS AND PILLOWS, BUT CANT GET THE LOOK, THAT YOU GET FROM A HALF THROW, THANKYOU X

      1. Yvonne – do you use a quilt or a duvet cover for the white base layer? I would think and empty duvet cover would be hard to keep looking neat. Thanks!

        1. I use a thin white quilt as a bedspread. I usually have a sheet and the white quilt on the bed most of the year.

  3. Great tips! Thank you for sharing. I also shop for solid quilts of white and off white and I love to add small pillows done in ticking to mix with other patterned fabrics.
A comfortable bed with that “put together” look is truly inviting and your beds always generate that mood.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    Karen

  4. I love changing the accent pillows on bedding for the seasons. Pottery Barn have them at 30% off right now. I typically purchase the covers only to save money. Thanks for all the tips!

  5. Great tips! One would never guess you are on a tight budget when you decorate! Thanks for sharing your talent with us!

  6. All of this looks beautiful. Just wondering though what do you do with it all when someone actually wants to sleep in the bed?

    1. Hi Mary. The tray goes on the floor under a window, the pillows go in a big basket and the duvet get pulled up and my guests snuggle in!

  7. I’m in the process of shopping for new bedding for my master bedroom and one of the guest rooms. I like the idea of the duvet at the end of the bed. What kind of insert do you use? A down comforter? I love euro shams with the regular shams. I noticed you have the regulat shams first, then the euro shams. Can I switch them around so the shams connect with the duvet, or is that not proper? Love all your layering! Wish my local HomeGoods had great bedding. I go there several times a week. I haven’t seen anything that hits me, so far. Can you suggest and other stores that won’t break the bank? We don’t have a PotteryBarn outlet!

    1. Really great questions! I use a down comforter in the winter and a lighter synthetic down-like duvet in the summer. I think the regular shams might cover up the pretty euro shams, but try switching them around and see. I love love love playing with bedding and pillows. Who knows, you might come up with a great combo!

As far as inexpensive bedding, Pottery Barn is having a big sale right now! Check them out. Also Birch Lane is my go-to site. I love their items.

My husband and I are working on a guest room together. These are great tips but, do you have any tips for graciously telling your husband thanks but, no thank.

    1. I have lots of tips, but when it comes to husbands I stay far away from that topic. The only thing I say is LOVE your husband!

  9. Linda Wells says:

I have always had a white quilt on my beds. Makes it easy to decorate for the holidays!

  10. Denise Moraris says:

I love your post! I just bought a new bed for my condo. Now I have to buy the bedding. In my home I did buy a white quilt and love it. Then I had found a great sale in Macy’s on a quilt set. It came with comforter, 2 shams,2 euro shams, and 3 throw pillows all for $50 (Martha Stewart org price $300.)
Now I have to go find another deal.
I love to change my bedding for each season. I have my Christmas quilts in red.
I’m lucky to be able to sew and I make my own pillow covers.
Thanks again for the wonderful post! I wish we could share our pictures.
    Have a wonderful day Denise

  11. I have a couple of white quilted coverlets that I found to be too heavy. I use one as a dust ruffle on my bed. Someone recently gave me a futon. Initially I planned to buy a slip cover for it, but it is longer and I would have to have one custom made for it. The color is Superman blue so I really have to do something – LOL. Perhaps my extra quilted coverlet would fit the length. I’m also considering buying a big drop cloth and sewing a cover, but I’m not sure that I want to put that much effort into it. If you have any suggestions, Yvonne, I’d love to hear them.

    1. How nice to get a futon! I’d try covering it with a dropcloth!

      1. Thank you, Karen….I really appreciate your comment! 🙂

  12. LuAnne Foster says:

Wow, such a beautiful idea. I will be trying out your technique in my quest bed room, off to looking for the deals!!

  13. When I saw 2 white quilts in a yard sale for $10 each, I grabbed them and now they are my main spreads. You are right about how easy it is to change everything around them. Love all your ideas.

  14. Sheila Gunderson says:

Your guest room is lovely. I love the earthy “neutral” colors. I just bought some beautiful ecru sheets with a crochet look edging that I hope will last forever and make my guests feel really pampered.

  15. Yvonne, great tips! I have always loved beautiful bedding! If you ever sleep on quality high thread count sheets, you can never return to the lesser quality! Happy Friday, Pam @ Everyday Living

  16. Great tips, Yvonne! Bedding can be tricky to pull together, especially the pillows!

  17. Nancy Loyd says:

Thank you as always you inspire me! Blessings on you this day!

  18. Love your bedding, the bedding for your guest room is the post that originally drew me into reading your blog every day. Needless to say, but I am going to say it anyway, I love your style throughout your home from the inside out.

Again, thanks for the inspirational photos,
    Roxann

  19. JudyCinNC says:

Husband has limits on the amount of pillows and I did comprise a bit. I love buying just regular shams to add variety in color and texture. I prefer having my “bed quilts” on the bottom of the beds to add a lot of color, but I make quilts and just love the bed quilts. Your tips are right on.and inspiring. JudyC

  20. Lizianthus says:

After the original post about bedding, I purchased a white quilt with shams at Home Goods and am loving it. Still on the hunt for the perfect duvet!
    Thanks!

  21. Anne Marie says:

Beautiful bedroom decor – love your ideas.

  22. This was such a timely post for me! I want to change the bedding in our master bedroom and have been stumped as to color design etc! I think the white coverlet mixed with a printed duvet cover can help me achieve the look I want! I am not fond of bed skirts . Any thoughts on how to cover the mattress??

    I am loving your blog!

    Thank you!

    1. I had that same question one other time because I don’t like bed skirts either but would prefer a finished look versus having an exposed box spring. I didn’t get any replies but I was in Bed Bath and Beyond recently so looked closely at how they had put together their display beds. It looked like they were covering the box spring with a fitted sheet.

    2. Hi Emily, I’ve seen fitted sheets used to cover the box spring. Best, Judy

      1. I’ve used fitted sheets to cover the boxsprings for several years now. Its a nice minimalist look since we have a platform bed.

  23. Sue Radcliff says:

Several years ago I started using white quilts, then a shop for beautiful favorite for the shams and add a beautiful quilts” I build from the shams with accent pillows and a special pillow, like your rabbit one, mine is a bicycle in my quest room. So I have kept an eye on beautiful fabric on sale, pillows too then change my scheme from winter to summer. Thanks for your tips!

  24. I love your tip on using the thin white quilts on all your beds. You are so right that they look so clean and crisp. It takes the stress away of finding just the perfect color and design for each room. I’m all for that!

  25. This post comes just at the right time as I’m getting ready to change out our master bedroom linens but didn’t know where to start. I love the idea of a white base and building up from there with pattern & texture!

  26. Great suggestions for changing and updating a bedroom.

  27. I love this post! I also use only white quilts on all beds and it’s so much fun to accessorize with pillows I too have a pottery barn bunny pillow in my guest bedroom … Bought on markdown of course ! Thank you for all your inspiration in every post ….Smiiles……..Anne

  28. I too incorporate textiles in my home decor. We down sized a year ago and after pricing window treatments, for our new smaller home, I decided to repurpose antique hand embroider quilts to use as curtains and to use one as a dust ruffle. Also used vintage embroidered square table cloths for two smaller windows. As for layering pillows, I chose to go with three larger scale throw pillows placed in front of the 4 bed pillows – which still gave me the odd number needed for visual balance.

Thanks for having a practical, realistic viewpoint on how to obtain a classic, upscale decor.

  29. Thanks for some great tips!

  30. Valerie Tingley says:

I followed your suggestions and just redid one of my guest rooms! I am thrilled with the results and plan to tackle the master bedroom next!

  31. I used the ideas of this post when it first ran to decorate our guest bedroom. I found an oversized baby bassinette to throw the pillows and what-not into when they are not needed on the bed. You have helped me so much. Thanks, gobs!

  32. Wow! Thank you for these tips. I love the idea of the white or neutral quilt as a bedspread and designing from that foundation. I agree when purchasing a duvet also purchase the euro shams or accent shams. I love the throw pillows as accessories. Love your ideas.

  33. Linda Charlton says:

I love your taste. You and Kim at Savvy Southern Style have been my inspiration for over a year. I don’t use white to the extent you do (black dog) but am doing mostly whote in my guest room. When someone comes I will change it out to keep it clean. lol

  34. I would love to spend a night in your guest room. It looks so inviting. I have never had high count Egyptian sheets, but have requested my daughter to buy them for my birthday–next Sunday. She has always had these and says she sleeps better in such luxury bedding!

  35. Thanks for revisiting with this post! I’m currently redoing my master bedroom. I do not have sideboards on my bed so I need to skirt it. I love the idea of a simple white bed cover and adding the duvet at the bottom. What would you do for a bed skirt if I go white?

  36. You rock, Pillow Princess! Those bunny pillows are the bomb-diggety!

  37. Love the look of a layered bed. I like the feeling of walking into a room that beckons you to get comfy and relax! Thanks Yvonne

  38. Yvonne, I love your articles on making my bedroom truly comfy and cozy and have been working on it. Long ago I found that going to bed in a nice neat cozy room brings on much better sleep through the night. Recently I found perfect quilt and shams on sale at Kohl’s. Then went to Linensource.com and found a duvet and shams at a terrific discount, black and taupe. Soon after they had a boucle throw on sale that brought out the taupe in the duvet – http://linensource.blair.com/p/boucle-throw/133671.uts. Even on a fixed income with a tight budget, it is possible to get the look you want… just have patience in finding the right items at good prices. Thanks so much for all your terrific posts!

  39. Linda Buchanan says:

Shams are an easy sewing project. I don’t know why they are so expensive.

  40. Sue O'Quinn says:

I love your guest! It looks very comfortable.

  41. Lovely room! Admire your decorating skills and the fact that you do it on a budget.

  42. Thanks for posting this, it’s just what I was looking for. I like the layered look and never thought of tucking in the bedspread. Great tips!

  43. Your decor always flows so nicely together! I’m not sure I’ve got that nailed! But I try! Love your bed! It’s cozy and classic! Love your classic style! It’s my favourite! Love❤️❤️

  44. I also have all white covers on my guest beds. We host via Airbnb, and I’ve found white is the easiest to keep clean (believe it or not). I used to use high end long staple cotton sheets, but I’ve switched to microfiber. I bought a queen-sized set at our local Ross for $15 (sheets and pillowcases). Guests LOVED them because they’re so soft. I love them because we dry our linens outside on a laundry line (we live in sunny, warm California) , and they dry in 20 minutes to an hour, depending on the temperature (keeping my house cooler so I don’t have to run the AC as much to make for the heat being generated by the air conditioner.

    Great tips!

  45. I try to study how your whole house just flows! It’s the nutruel colors and fine design. y
You sure have an eye for decorating! Love the new room.

  46. Julie Maier says:

Love, love, love the room and tips! I don’t think I would want to leave my room!

  47. Cindy Retchin says:

You have inspired me to get my master bedroom decorated. I made a huge mistake on paint color and having been living with it. I too, have a white quilt on the bed, but didn’t have a duvet. I have cherry furniture and have been thinking about painting it, but after seeing your beautiful room, will paint the walls and use your other ideas. Can’t wait to get started. Just found your blog today, so will subscribe to get more inspiration for the rest of my house. Thanks a million.

  48. I’m in an area that gets way too hot to use any covering at night during the summer and fall other than a sheet. I love the look of the duvet at the end of the bed, but it would be so impractical here. Thanks, Yvonne, for always including store suggestions for places to shop for the things in your post. That really helps!!

  49. Great tips and I love the look of the bedroom.

  50. Duvets are a great idea! Your guests will never want to leave!

  51. Perfect timing!!! I have been buying a little at the time … and preparing…. a little at the time, in order to “red0” the guest bedroom !!! Thank you for the great tips!!! BTW… that rabbit pillow is gorgeous!!!! 🙂

  52. Great ideas to keep in mind, thank you for all the awesome ideas and pretty eye candy!

    Blessings!

  53. Donna Henson says:

Thank you so much for the GREAT tips. Getting our guest room ready for the Holidays and wanted to give it “an expensive look”

  54. Freddie Ann says:

Wow, this looks wonderful. I was needing a good idea on where to put the pillows (not just tossed in the corner). Out this weekend to look for a basket.
    Thank you for the idea!
    Freddie Ann

  55. Your ideas are so great! I am encouraged to give new bedding a try using your suggestions. I’ve had floral comforters for the past 20 years, so I’m excited to do something different.

  56. I am decorating our guest room also. We have some wonderful thrift shops and consignment stores around here and I have found some wonderful things – white chenille shames, wonderful quilts and other baskets and things for the room. The attached bath is also being decorated in matching shades. Such fun!

  57. Would the duvet at the end of the bed be a size smaller or the same size of the bed?

    1. Hi Debby, Make sure it is the same size as the bed. You don’t want it to be too small to cover the bed.

  58. Our Home Goods opens on Sunday! Yippee! Maybe a white quilt will find it’s way into my basket – my guest room could sure use it! Thanks for the inspiration!

  59. I think the bedroom looks so nice and a welcome to stay in. Love the Bunny pillow !

  60. I would love to change up my bedding when in my home I have limited space to store bulky pillows and shams..looks gorgeous as usual

  61. Great ideas. You always have the best tips for beautiful looks and affordable ways to do it.

  62. Pam Griner says:

Can’t wait to make my bed using these tips!

  63. Thanks for all the ideas. Great information

  64. do you ever wonder how Pottery Barn’s duvets look so thick and billowy? The trick is they use two inserts…at least that’s what I once read. Just thought some of you might find that interesting.

  65. Thank you for wonderful tips! I love white bedding and I’m always looking for awesome sales!

  66. I love the rich colors and layers, starting with a white canvas for a bedspread. Very elegant

  67. Kymberly Starr says:

Moving day is in October. We had to purchase two different beds for the children. We did this by selling their older ones. They paid for the new beds and mattresses. On to the new bedding that will have to be done on our “selling” budget. This was very timely. Thank you so much!

  70. Deb Gregory says:

Great Tips as always. Thanks for the inspiration!

  71. Love this look!! I too use white coverlets in most of my bedrooms with contrasting comforters. Makes the room look very pulled together . However to mix it up a bit I chose a very pale blue one for one of the guest bedrooms then added a fluffy white comforter at the end of the bed… Love it!

  72. I am getting such good, inexpensive ideas here for my upcoming remodeling project! I think starting with a white quilt and working out to the rest of the room from there is a wonderful start. The Duvet Covers are a great idea…especially for those of us that allow our fur babies to nap with us! Inexpensive and easy care…I am all for it!
The idea of having something to throw all my pillows into instead of in the floor in the corner…great!
Our bedroom has higher curved metal ceiling…like the inside of a barn. So much possibilty here…I have my starting point…thank you!

  73. Sherry Pelle says:

  75. Teresa Sole says:

I LOVE your ideas! You have SUCH good suggestions! My Mom and I are allergic to down and feathers, so we have to use poly fill but fortunately, you can now find some really nice substitutes. If you don’t use the pillows to sleep on, you can use a little less expensive alternatives. The beds in your posts are So lovely. Thank you for all of the info.

  76. Your guest room looks so nice!

  77. Sally Brown says:

  78. Dorinda Selke says:

Yvonne thanks for some really wonderful tips I can really use ?. Hugs, Dorinda

  79. Yvonne where are the pillows you actually sleep on at night

  80. I LOVE a pretty bedroom. My husband is not kind to my linens, so my guests get all my pretties!! Lol!

I find it hard to buy sheets to fit ( after washing even with cold water) for these deep mattresses!! They either seem to shrink, or slip and slide off the bed. Frustrating!! Any tips?

Stein Mart has inexpensive coverlets that work nicely for seasonal changes either as a base or as a pull up blanket for extra warmth, too.

  81. Mary Chris says:

    what a relaxing welcoming room

  82. Kathleen Kehagias says:

Good, practical, and easy to understand tips. I like that you give tips for those of us who are not ready to go and pay thousands of dollars for new bedding! I started following you on Pintrest too!
    Thanks

    1. Hi Kathleen! Thanks for following me on Pinterest! LOVE my pinners!

  83. Hi Yvonne, thanks for this post. I am updating my bedroom and now I have a good formula for putting it all together. Thank you!

  84. Since Va. summers are too warm( even with AC) I just put my empty duvet across my bed as a pretty pop of pattern.

  85. Great tips Yvonne. I recently bought sheets that were perfect for one of our bedrooms. I prewashed them as they has red design, added vinegar and used warm water. Next time they were washed we had pink. Thankfully, nothing important was ruined. It has been years since that has happened! I’m going back to the tried and true bedding stores! Love your guest room bed.

  86. Love your suggestions!

  87. Breanna Bennett says:

I finally splurged on my dream bedding from Anthropologie and I am so using these tips to turn my bedroom into a beautiful sanctuary. My hubby works so hard I want the bed to be comfortable (and gorgeous). Thank you for this post!

  88. So, where are the pillows you actually sleep on? The problem I encounter with a king sized bed is the 2 real pillows, 3 euro and 2 shams plus any decorative pillows equals to way too many pillows in one room! Any tips for these size beds?

  89. Tina Eschbach says:

I love your bedding! Looks so inviting. Thanks for sharing.?

  90. Portia Read says:

So sensible and gorgeous! I’m looking for duvet covers now.
But what should we do with the family quilts? Is there a way to use them?

  91. Great decorating tips for a beautiful bed! Thank you for your recommendation on sheets, I try and buy good quality sheets but the last ones that I bought were at Home Goods & they were not Egyptian Cotton! I also like using thin bedspreads because they are easy to wash! I love all of your decorations!!

  92. Great tips for bed decor. Can hardly wait to get started?

  93. Thank you so much for reprinting this “BEST” hint. I don’t know how I missed it. It is so full of ideas. My question though, after really looking at your picture is……you have an accentpillow first, then Euro shams, then regular ruffled sham, and then are the pillows with “pillowcases” behind the ruffled sham? It’s hard to see for sure…I don’t think you are sleeping with the black and white pattern as a pillow but that’s a ruffled sham. Forgive me for being confused. How about this. When one gets in this bed pictured, there would be 5 pillows in the basket? Thanks for this lesson but I’m a bit confused. Thank you for your designer hints and all you put into putting out such a great blog.

  94. Lovely!
My guest room gets this luxury. My room-not so much, as my husband is not a fan, and doesn’t like to keep the bed beautiful. Been “raising him” for over thirty years and can’t make him quit eating in the bed (drives me mad), so I have given up. Only on laundry day does the room looked pulled together.
So, for now, I will enjoy knowing my guests are being treated to a more luxurious night’s sleep. Lol!

    1. ArleenMarie says:

I too have that sort of loving partner. Beds are to be slept in. Why make it if you’re gonna sleep in it later?? I have this man
for over 35+ years. Every time I purchase a pillow, sheet, quilt and the like: “We already have “one”. It’ll never change, they will never change BUT MY bed can and does.. Just have fun with it and don’t break the bank..THAT is so easy with all the beautiful bedding available now. HAGD…

  95. Brenda A Zinck says:

Love all this – I bought a new house and can’t wait to use several of your ideas in my new house.

  96. I really loved your room, it was very relaxing. I already practice a lot of the tips you gave for buying linens. I buy most of my linens @ TJMaxx when they mark them down & put them in their clearance dept. I outfitted our whole bed that way buying a little @ a time. I also 2 bought lovely matelasse shams & made cushions for an antique rocker, they turned out really well.
