Today some pretty wonderful bloggers are sharing their talent to help you put together spectacular centerpieces! Check out these fall-filled posts at the end of this one!

A big thank you to Soya from AT HOME WITH THE BARKERS and Melissa at DAISY MAE BELLE for putting this creative fall event together!

Today I want to share 5 ways to create a fabulous fall vignette.  So, let’s get started!

USE A BASKET, CRATE OR TRAY  TO CONTAIN A VIGNETTE

This is always the first element in a vignette. For a fall vignette let’s use something warm, textural, woody or patina encrusted to put the elements of our vignette in!

I found this great meat crate a couple of years ago and Mod Podged a stylized burlap fabric in the bottom of it. This is my very favorite crate to use for a vignette! Do you have a favorite too!

Because I used a good sized pumpkin, I needed a big container… and the crate was perfect! An oversized vignette demands attention!

USE NATURAL FALL ELEMENTS

This seems pretty obvious! Try to use a couple pretty fall elements in your vignette. Pumpkins, feathers, acorns, bittersweet, leaves, deer sheds, gourds, apples, mums, wheat, pods, branches, Indian corn and nuts are just some of the natural elements you can use!

Three small white vases of bittersweet stand in a row in my vignette!

FALL INSPIRED COLORS AND NEUTRALS

Fall’s colors are absolutely gorgeous. Saturated colors of leaves, hues of pumpkins and gourds, and the neutrals of bark and acorns and fields. Use these colors! They are spectacular!

If you don’t love bright orange for fall home decor (although orange with blue is amazing!!!!!) then use a soft peachy orange or a dark burnt orange to accent your home this fall.

I was so inspired by the color of this charming Cinderella pumpkin I worked the fall decor in my living room around it! A fall vignette should be filled with fall color!

TEXTURE, TEXTURE, TEXTURE!

5 TIPS FOR CREATING A FABULOUS FALL VIGNETTE-Easy to pull together and will become the star of your fall decor!- stonegableblog.com

A fall vignette is all about texture. It’s a season of layered texture!

Burlap and fall are like best friends. It offers such pretty color and texture for fall! Find nubby, fluffy, full textured objects and add them to your vignette!

There’s a whole lot of texture in my vignette, burlap covered crate bottom, burlap books. corks and twine wrapped candleholders.

BALANCE TEXTURE WITH SOMETHING SMOOTH

Textured objects need a counterpoint in a vignette. Add a couple smooth elements, like a pumpkin! It’s skin is smooth yet interesting!

I also added glass cubes to contain the corks and the twine wrapped candlesticks are glass also.

USE SOME PERSONAL THINGS TO MAKE IT YOURS!

The best part of vignettes is that you can corral all kinds of objects and if done with care, they can be fabulous together. Make sure to add something personal or something cherished to your vignette. Use what you love and let your personality shine through!

I love the little “S” and “g” type blocks that I found at a Vintage Market. They symbolize StoneGable! Just something personal and fun and great items to tuck into this vignette.

Don’t forget to add some great candles, or mini pumpkins or galvanized metal, or a fun stack of plates. There are so many ways to make a vignette! Take out your “stuff” and get creating!

Isn’t Bittersweet poisonous? I have a cat that eats all flowers and foliage!
Pet owners beware…otherwise, Love the centerpiece idea and have used it in my home!

  7. I just luv your vignettes 🙂
The pumpkin is such a perfect colour to me. When the boys were little, and I was relatively new to the South, I decorated with all the saturated colours of Fall. I brought the Fall feel of NYC ( still home as it is where we lived when we moved to the US) and Virginia where I lived for a year. But fast forward to now… when I know that Florida is now home… no going back, I decorate in softer palettes. Fall comes softly to North Central Florida . In faded , muted tones.
And yes, orange goes so well with blue. Go Gators!!!! 😀

This vignette got me in a lot of trouble. I studied it on your Home Tour. I decided, after a 25 year break, we needed a coffee table. Two days and 3 table/benches later, I think I ordered the appropriate table. We will see when the order comes in. My hubby will kill me if I don’t like this one! I will need additional pictures of vignettes to keep my new purchase up to date! Thank you.

  13. Joanne B. says:

lovely vignettes, one after the other! Thanks for the great ideas. Perfect for bringing some fall into the house. I live in South Florida so fall comes very slowly here! We are waiting (impatiently I might add) for that first cool front when the humidity breaks and I can turn off the A/C and open the windows. It”ll still be 80, but he humidity makes a BIG difference. I LIVE for this! That’s when fall comes home in OUR house!

    Keep them coming!!!!!

  15. Hi Yvonne: what a lovely vignette – as always! While I love wearing orange, it doesn’t really go with my decor so I paint Dollar store (read: cheap!!) pumpkins a faded blue then rub brown paint on to “dirty them up” a bit and while I LOVE bittersweet, I look for green berries and such. The way real cork is harvested from the trees, has always fascinated me; I’ve collected corks for years & store them in a large glass container. Re my Fall color substitution, Yvonne, it got me thinking about you: how about if you someday do a vignette in two different colors (side by side) so it’ll show ladies what they can use as substitution? Not everyone has your talent! Not only could it show how to substitute color but perhaps, you could show how you substitute different items too. By the way, I passed your blog name onto a certain shop owner here in my town and I bet, if she isn’t terribly busy this morning, she’ll be checking you out! Her store carries lots of fabulous items and leans toward the “farmhouse” look. Thank you once again for sharing your talents!

  16. Bernadette says:

I love the corks in the little glass votive holders!! Thanks for the ideas!!

    Hi Yvonne!
Love, love, love your taste in decor for your home both inside and out!I am SO glad that we are kindred sisters. It is lovely so see your beautiful home and know that you love the Lord as well!Fall is my favorite time of year and all of your fall decorations look just gorgeous! Blessings to you!

  33. I love creating vignettes too. I think there is more to then most people think. The problem I have is corralling all the various candle holders, ceramic pieces, etc. and storing them in a way to find them easily for use. How do you store your collections and generic pieces for your home?

    1. Hi Virginia, I have a basement with rolling shelves placed to look like aisles in a store. I store all my decor according to like things. All candlesticks together, all trays together, all pumpkins together etc.
