EASTER D INNER: This Easter’s dinner was inspired by the Peach Luster Fire King dishes I have been collecting for many years. They have become a part of our Easter tradition as much as our menu, Easter baskets and church. I used a peach, terracotta and white palette for this table. Using a plain simple white tablecloth focuses the attention to the other elements on the table. Each place setting is a combination of white and peach plates. SUNDAY SCRIPTURE:Garden of Gethsemane, Mount of Olives IsraelThey came with Jesus to a place called Gethsamane. And He said to His disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray”. Sweet and Savory Palmiers
I was in a adventurous mood. I had planned to make little sweet palmiers (elephant ears) and got impatient while they were firming up in the frig. With one more sheet of pastry left I thought, “Why couldn’t I make a savory version of palmiers?” Foraging in my frig I came up with three cheeses and some fresh chives. “Okay, good enough!” And the results were delicious…It’s so good to be in the kitchen, creating something yummy and easy and a recipe my family will LOVE!SWEET PALMIER1 sheet puff pastrySugarCinnamonSanding Sugar (or regular sugar)Make cinnamon sugar by mixing 1/4 cup sugar and 1/2 tsp cinnamon together in……
Show Off Your Silver!
SHOW OFF YOUR SILVER:Silver makes me swoon! It’s beautiful reflective shine. The weight of it in my hand. The refined and formal feelings it evokes. Polishing away tarnish to reveal that unmistakable luster. Silver is jewelry for a table. And I love jewelry! But not all silver is the same. And that is wonderful news. I have recently been treasure hunting in antique shops and flea markets and have found beautiful silver pieces at very reasonable prices…This lovely Rogers Silverplate Coffee and Tea service was probably never used. It still has the label stickers on the bottom of each piece. The detail on the handles,……

Herbed Quiche Lorainne
This week I had some of my wonderful girlfriends for breakfast. I wanted to make an egg dish because I used egg shells as little pots for violas so I had eggs on hand.To see post click HERE.I have a love/hate relationship with quiche. It can be so delicious and full of great savory ingredients. But more times than not, the crust is soggy and the quiche tough. I really don’t like tough quiche! Not appetizing! So I went on a search to find a fluffy, light and spectular tasting quiche. I found a recipe that called for ricotta cheese and knew I……
Spring Table
Pansies And The Girls Breakfast:What’s not to love about pansies! They are pretty, happy flowers that welcome spring. And at StoneGable, pansies are the center of attention these days. They are the first of this season’s flowers to be planted… outdoors and in! I had the idea for this tablescape rolling around in my head for awhile and wanted to invite a few of my wonderful girlfriends over to have breakfast with the pansies. Little violas (small pansies) planted in egg shells was the inspiration for this table. I saw a faux rendition at a gift shop and thought it would be so pretty……
Natural Dyed Easter Eggs
Here at StoneGable, I continue an Easter tradition that spans back many generations. I have vivid memories, as a little girl, dying onion skin eggs. These special eggs, dyed with papery onion skin, were prized above all the pretty pastel and sherbert-colored eggs. They were tradition. My grandmother, Nani, learned from her mother. It was the way in the old country. This proceedure is so easy and even more satisfying to do. A basket of these almost magical eggs are a real treasure! Deep oranges, warm browns, soft terracotta. Not your typical Easter colors. But once you see them you will understand!I……

St. Patrick’s Day Table
A GREEN TABLE:Here at StoneGable we are getting ready to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day. Even though we are not Irish, we will be that day!The table is decorated in a green and natural color theme. I have heard it said that “all greens go together”. Although I don’t completely agree with this, it is amazing how greens play so nicely together. Hopefully, this table exemplifies that adage. The plates are two very different greens as is the placemat. The dinner plate is dark green with a heavily detailed grape motif. It is rimmed with an oil bronzed-look band. A salad plate in the……

Let’s Play Where’s Waldo!
PINK SATURDAY:Do you know Waldo… from Where’s Waldo? He’s the geeky looking guy who wears funny red and white clothes and hides in distractingly chaotic pictures so almost no one can find him. I am NOT a good Waldo finder. I get sensory overload. Everything on the page begins to look like Waldo. I think that is part of Waldo’s evil plan.Hey, I have a fun idea… Let’s play Where’s Waldo right now! Yea!But not the red, black and white everywhere version that makes your eyes blurry and your frustration level go sky high. Let’s play the EASY version. So easy, in fact, that we don’t even have to find Waldo.……

SPRING FEVER, PART II
Garden Plans and Scones:The ground is still snow covered with only a few patches of brown grass peeking out here and there. And today’s forcast calls for… snow flurries. Winter is holding on with both icy hands. But I know, because it’s March, that winter’s grip will soon be loosed and giveway to the new green of Spring! My thoughts have turned the corner already. Dreaming of the smell of blooming lilacs and pots full of colorful annuals, spring has come… if in spirit only! This morning I am tarrying for just a while over a good cup of coffee and a melt-in-your-mouth scone (link to……
Spring Fever
Garden Planning:When the calendar flips to March my thoughts turn to gardening. Dreaming of beautiful blooms and lucious veggies I peruse garden books and magazines for new ideas and designs. Victoria MagazineTruth be told, I love the IDEA of gardening more than the actual act. Thoughts of digging in the warm summer dirt sounds so romantic in March. But somehow these imaginations lose their appeal in August when oppressive heat and thick tangles of weeds are the reality! There is nothing too romantic about sweat dripping off my nose and green stained fingers!Country HomeBut because it is March and my head is full of horticultural thoughts I……
