10 MINUTE BEACHY DECORATING

10 MINUTE BEACHY DECOR- A QUICK AND UPSCALE WAY TO DECORATE FOR SUMMER!

I think summer decorating should be easy, don’t you? Not only easy but it should look amazing too! With that in mind, I didn’t want to spend lots of time shuffling through the basement for things to create a summery vignette for the dining room buffet! So, I took the candlesticks off the dining room table, pulled a basket from the family room and began to play. Here’s how easy it is to create 10 minute beachy vignette that will last until fall…

Since I don’t live at the beach I wanted to create a vignette that was beachy and a little upscale. No nets, fish etc! How about starfish and mercury glass?

I did have to go down to the basement to get 2 containers of shells, but I knew where they were. Thank heavens!

The beachy vignette works with the colors in the lamp. I was thinking about painting the basket a dusty light gray… I’m so glad I didn’t!

Here’s how easy it was to put together my 10 minute beachy decor!

I tied a length of twine around a few starfish and tied them to candles on mercury glass candlesticks. I like seeing the twine. I think it adds a layer of texture. If you don’t like seeing the twine around the starfish you can hot glue the twine to the back of the starfish but then it might take you a couple extra minutes to create this vignette.

Mercury glass is a big favorite of mine! And who knew that starfish and mercury glass worked so well together?

Because my vignette looked a little unfinished I felt the grouping needed something a little shorter to balance it out. I chose a round glass jar (that a candle once came in and I cleaned out) and coiled a rope inside it… and slipped another starfish inside.

Finally, I laid a trio of lumpy starfish in the basket. If you know the name of these stellar starfish please let me know. They are so pretty!

Done and so easy-peasy! I love this vignette for its organic and upscale look!

  1. Very inspiring and very pretty. I love anything with a beach vibe, the beach means summer and salt and sand and summer is all about being laid back and casual and keeping life simple. Enjoying every moment of it we can.

  2. Very beachy~classy, Yvonne! We live close to the Great Lakes so ‘lake’ is more appropriate here. And there always lots of cute things at HomeGoods with a lake theme. This is so pretty with the shine of the mercury glass.
    love and blessings~

I love your style! You are such an inspiration to me as I attempt to decorate my new place. Can you tell me where I can purchase the large white stars that you used on the fireplace ?

    1. Hi Maryann, They came from a vendor at the Luckett’s spring Market. He is local and to my knowledge only does things like markets and fairs.

  5. Love your beachy candlesticks. Would not have thought to put sea shells with those candlesticks, but it works so beautifully.

I always love your posts and ideas but cannot figure out why your photos fade out as I scroll through your post. I can’t ever see your photos in a clear mode and don’t understand the reason this occurs. I usually give up and move onto another blogger. If you can provide a method or way to see your photos more clearly, please let me know.

    Thanks very much.

  15. Simple…..the older I get, the more I love light and simple. We moved from a beautiful three-story home to a bayou bungalow in Florida last year. Gutted it and painted my antiques white and/or grey! Love it! Your beachy rooms and touches of light are perfect! I will have to figure out how to send you before and after pictures.
